Our History

The Mississippi Mills Youth Centre (MMYC) was founded in 2015 through collaboration between the Town of Mississippi Mills and community partners. Initially, youth programs were held in various locations, and in 2016, an Interim Board was formed to shape the Centre’s structure, hire staff, and run programs. MMYC officially opened in December 2016, offering after-school programming.

The team worked hard to establish bylaws, improve the facility, and build community relationships. MMYC became an independent nonprofit in January 2017 and achieved charitable status in 2019. Despite a temporary closure in 2020 due to COVID-19, the Centre reopened under strict health guidelines and continues to support local youth.

MMYC is currently open as normal, running programs six days a week for a total of 32.5 hours, offering a wide range of activities and support for the community’s youth.
